Johannes Voget (University of Mannheim) visits the Institute of Public Finance

On 8 July 2026, Johannes Voget (University of Mannheim) visited the Institute of Public Finance. During his visit, he exchanged ideas with researchers from the Institute and the Faculty on current research topics and presented his latest work as part of the Institute's Research Seminar.

In his presentation, "Tax Policy Uncertainty and Investment," he discussed recent research on the effects of tax policy uncertainty on firms' investment decisions. The presentation focused on a survey-based randomized controlled trial (RCT) designed to identify the causal impact of uncertainty about future corporate taxation. German firms were randomly assigned to different information treatments that held expected tax rates constant while varying the degree of perceived tax uncertainty. The findings show that higher tax policy uncertainty significantly reduces planned investments in both tangible and intangible assets, as well as firms' expected profits.
