Bryan Calderon participates in PhD course at University of St. Gallen

From June 10th to 14th, 2024, Bryan Calderon participated in the PhD course "Analyzing Panel Data," taught by Christopher Zorn from Pennsylvania State University and offered by the Global School in Empirical Research Methods (GSERM) at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. The course brought together approximately 25 international students for an intense and engaging week of discussions and hands-on activities using R software to analyze panel data.

The course began by addressing the challenges and opportunities inherent in working with panel data, with a focus on approaches and techniques for describing and visualizing such data. As the week progressed, students delved into models for one-way and two-way unit effects (fixed, between, and random effects), explored complex panel error structures, and studied dynamic panel models. Special emphasis was placed on making causal inferences in observational contexts, equipping participants with the skills to fit and interpret these models effectively.

In addition to the academic content, the University organized social activities, such as dinners and city tours, fostering integration and collaboration among participants.
