Together with Marina Schröder (Leibniz University Hannover) and Cornelius Schneider (University of Mannheim), Maximilian Todtenhaupt has published a new working paper on altruistic behavior and government interventions. Using data on donations in Norwegian grocery stores, the authors find evidence for a significant increase in donation rates following the implementation of Covid-19-related restrictions. Importantly, this rise appears to be driven by individuals not directly affected by the restrictions.
